Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1 KJV
Do you ever feel like a ship that has been overloaded to the point of sinking? think of Job. All in one day he had enough trouble loaded into his boat to take him right to the bottom of the ocean, listen to what Job 7:4,6-7 says: his night drags on and I toss till dawn. My days are swifter than weaver, s shuffle flying back and forth. They end without hope, I will never again experience pleasure.
When I lie down, I say, when shall I arise, and the night be gone? And I am full of tossing’s to and fro unto the dawning of the day.
My days are swifter than a weaver's shuttle and are spent without hope.
O remember that my life is wind: mine eye shall no more see good.
Job 7:4 KJV
According to the Bible, faith is belief in the one, true God without actually seeing Him. Where does faith come from? Faith is not something we conjure (call an image to the mind) up on our own, or is it something we are born with, nor is faith a result of diligence in study or pursuit of the spiritual.
The Greek word for Faith pistis which is always a gift from God, and never something that can be produced by people. Faith (“pistis”) for th6⁶e believer is "God's divine persuasion" and therefore distinct from human belief. The Lord continuously births faith in the yielded believer so they can know what He desires.
For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. 1 John 5:4 KJV
The Hebrew word for faith is Emunah (אמונה). We usually think of faith as something which is connected to an organization or religion, and may have many preconceived notions about it, but when we look at the root it might turn out to be something far more primal to our existence.
Verily I say unto you, whosoever shall say unto this mountain, be thou taken up and cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart but shall believe that what he saith cometh to pass; he shall have it. Mark 11:23 ASV
We will take a look at Job’s life, unfortunate circumstances and disastrous events combined to rob him of his tranquil life. He lost all his wealth, all his children and finally his health. All this would also affect his wife tremendously because she too experienced all this loss as well, after which she had to watch helplessly as her husband ‘s health rapidly deteriorated and the anguish he experienced.
So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown. Job 2:7 KJV
The burden of these dreadful experiences eventually brought her husband’s little craft into the safe harbour of God’s arms. Job’s suffering led him to God’s grace as he prayed; I had heard about you before but now I have seen you with my own eyes. I take back everything he said as he sat in the dust and ashes to show his repentance.
I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee. Job 42:5 KJV
Job's wife also felt hurt and became overwhelmed, she lost hope and couldn’t see any such secure destination. She chose instead to toss aimlessly on a sea of doubt and disbelief like a boat adrift. She advised her husband foolishly to curse God and die.
Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die. Job 2:9 KJV
Fortunately, Job chose to live through the suffering and learn God’s lesson for him.
