Biblical View of Freshness

And the Lord said unto her, two nations are in thy womb, and two manners of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger. Genesis 25:23 KJV

Have you ever sat down and reflected on your life and just start to count your blessings, thinking of where you were and where you are currently? I am sure many of us can, I am a living testimony considering all the trials I have experienced throughout the years and even more recently, I can’t stop thanking God for all His blessings in my life.

One evening in his life, David began counting his blessings, God had exalted and anointed him, instructed, and inspired him. David the man after God’s owns heart, had responded to the trust God had placed in him, he had made some huge mistakes, but he fully understood that God had never left him. David, for the most part had tried to please God and when he didn’t , he had readily confessed his sin

Now these be the last words of David. David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said,The Spirit of the Lord spake by me, and his word was in my tongue. 2 Samuel 23:1-2

David the sweet psalmist of Israel had also brought a breath of fresh air to Israel through his music. So many times, pictures of God’s faithfulness to people are drawn from nature. Look at the birds, look at the lilies, Jesus told his followers in Matthew 6 David looked at the sunshine as a picture of a ruler who rules with God’s righteousness and faithfulness. David compared this kind of ruler to the refreshing rains that brings tender grass from the earth.

According to 2nd Samuel 23:4;2 David had many abilities, and he acknowledged God as the giver of his abilities with words.

And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain. The spirit of the Lord speaks through me his words are upon my tongue. 2nd Samuel 23:4;2 KJV

David king of Israel delighted in God’s, words and God delighted in speaking to him and through him.

When we live under God’s rule, we will exercise our leadership, responsibilities with great faithfulness and freshness. Whatever authority God has given us, especially in our homes, we must let God lead us before we can lead others effectively.

As families we can take comfort in God’s rule in our lives. How many times do we as wives or husbands demand permission to do this, or that, or to go here, or there but lack the wisdom to know how to lead effectively. God will speak through us if we, like David have the spirit of the Lord in us and are in tune with him. God will give us the direction we need to be wise managers for our families. As we live for him, leading submissive, obedient lives, God will direct our words and actions with a faithful freshness that freshens all who comes in contact with us in this parched and thirsty world.
